The Var, a geostrategic location at the orbital hub of the competitiveness clusters

The other regional clusters

PRIDES (Regional cluster for innovation and mutually supportive economic development)

New device set up by the PACA Regional Cuuncil
  • Rally the companies working in a single activity sector and encourage them to work with each other to become stronger and more resilient, by pooling resources to carry more clout,
  • Form coherent economic "strike forces" within Europe regionally organised around buoyant sectors to counter globalisation,
  • Enhancement of the creative results of research workers (new products or services),
  • Back up the company in the Var, throw the levers of their internal growth and competitiveness for higher productivity and find more outlets to sell their new products and services,
  • Get SMEs to stand together to find new development capabilities to head off global competition. Companies in receipt of public funding must set the example for sustainable development and assume all their social and environmental responsibilities.

Aims
  • Increase the density of medium size companies' productive base(only 2% of them employ 20-150 people),
  • As the metropolitan process tends to accelerate the concentration of wealth, take care to achieve balanced regional development,
  • Enhance the region's appeal by positively supporting its strong economic skills,
  • Develop a global, integrated approach to company competitiveness that does not boil down to the mono-ingredient of technological innovation.

2 major priorities
  • Back up region-wide business networking as a form of organisation,
  • Improve the performance levels of the member companies.
