Logistics
The variety of transport modes in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
Region (air, rail, sea, river and road) makes it a multi-modal
platform where the traffic from the Rhone Valley intersects with
the traffic coming from Southern Europe (Spain and Italy).
The excellent motorway network puts the conurbations of Nice,
Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence less than an hour away from the centre of
the Var, at the crossroads of the A8 and A57 motorways.
"Sea routing" is developing as an alternative to road transport at
Toulon's commercial port, whose site is on the main Italy-France-Spain
artery, linked to the European rail and motorway networks, customs
approved (temporary customs clearance warehouse and area zone - MADT),
with guarded vehicle parking... the goods terminal is sited in an
industrial complex dedicated to maritime freight.
Toulon's commercial port primarily handles very specific, sensitive
niche goods traffic and bulk goods transport by polyrail.
