Environment

An economic sector that really counts.

Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur is ranked No. 3 in France for environmental sciences and techniques with 500 firms whose primary or secondary line of business is in the area of environment.

The Var has a hundred or more environmental businesses that specialise in waste processing and recycling, air and water treatment, manufacturing green products, risk analysis and so on. They form a web of innovative SMEs and SMIs.

  • For about one hundred companies in the Var, roughly one out of four in the region, the environment is their core business, that figure almost doubles if we add associated activities.
  • An economic base in the area of Toulon with strong maritime, defence and leading edge technology links - all competencies that can be applied to the environment sector.
  • Operators in the department of national if not international importance, (CNIM, Pizzorno …).
  • Many innovative SMEs and engineering offices.
